The HoopAI platform’s QR code builder supports a range of redirect options beyond a simple website URL. Each redirect type connects the QR code to a specific asset or action within the platform, allowing you to route customers to payment flows, conversations, lead capture, or interactive content — all from a single scan.
How redirects work
When you create a QR code and select a redirect type, the platform stores a short redirect URL inside the QR pattern. When the code is scanned, the platform resolves the redirect and sends the user to the configured destination. Because the destination is stored in the platform — not in the QR image itself — you can update the redirect at any time without changing the printed code.
All redirects are dynamic. You can switch a QR code from pointing to one funnel page to another, or from a form to a payment link, without regenerating or reprinting the code.
Available redirect types
Payment links
Connect a QR code directly to a payment link for a product, service, or membership. When scanned, the buyer’s browser opens the checkout page immediately.
Setup:
- Create the payment link in your HoopAI account first
- In the QR code builder, select Payment Link as the type
- Choose the payment link from the dropdown list of available links
Use payment link QR codes on product packaging, at your register, in printed menus (for order-ahead or tips), or on event materials where direct purchase is the goal.
Requirement: Payment links must be created in your account before they appear in the dropdown.
WhatsApp
A WhatsApp redirect opens a WhatsApp conversation with a specified phone number. You can optionally pre-fill the opening message so the customer just taps send.
Setup:
- Select WhatsApp as the QR code type
- Enter the WhatsApp-registered phone number with country code (for example, +1 555 123 4567)
- Optionally enter a pre-filled message (for example, “Hi, I’d like to learn more about your services”)
Use WhatsApp QR codes on business cards, storefronts, or event stands where you want customers to initiate a direct conversation. The pre-filled message removes the blank-canvas friction that can stop someone from sending the first message.
Funnels
A funnel redirect routes the scanner to a specific page within a HoopAI funnel. This is the standard way to connect print campaigns to digital marketing sequences.
Setup:
- Select Funnel as the QR code type
- Choose the target funnel from the first dropdown
- Choose the specific page within the funnel from the second dropdown
Common funnel pages to link:
- Opt-in pages for list building
- Webinar or event registration pages
- Free resource download pages
- Sales pages for products or services
- Appointment booking pages (if embedded in the funnel)
Requirement: The funnel must be built and published before it appears in the dropdown.
A form redirect opens a HoopAI form in the scanner’s browser. Use this to collect leads, intake information, or any structured data entry from printed materials.
Setup:
- Select Form or Survey as the QR code type
- Choose the target form from the dropdown
Form submissions captured via QR code scan are recorded in your account exactly like web-based form submissions. They can trigger automations, add contacts to pipelines, send notifications, and be reviewed in the submissions dashboard.
Use cases:
- Lead capture on flyers and brochures
- Service intake forms on printed appointment reminders
- Feedback forms on receipts
- Registration forms on event materials
Surveys
Survey redirects work identically to form redirects but target a HoopAI survey rather than a form.
Setup:
- Select Form or Survey as the QR code type
- Choose the target survey from the dropdown
Survey submissions via QR code are captured in the platform and can trigger automations or be reviewed in the survey responses dashboard.
Use cases:
- Post-purchase satisfaction surveys on packaging or receipts
- Event feedback surveys on attendee materials
- Customer research surveys on printed table cards
Quizzes
A quiz redirect sends the scanner to an interactive quiz in your HoopAI account. Quizzes are engaging, shareable, and can be used for lead qualification, audience segmentation, or entertainment marketing.
Setup:
- Select Quiz as the QR code type
- Choose the target quiz from the dropdown
Use cases:
- Personality or product-fit quizzes on event materials
- Knowledge quizzes on educational or training materials
- Interactive engagement on brochures or catalogs
Updating a redirect destination
Because all redirects are dynamic, you can change where a QR code points at any time:
- Open the code from Sites > QR Codes
- Click the three-dot menu > Edit
- Navigate to the content/details step
- Select a different asset from the dropdown, or enter a new URL
- Save
The change takes effect immediately. Any future scan of the existing printed code routes to the new destination.
Prerequisites for dropdown-based redirects
For redirect types that use a dropdown (payment links, funnels, forms, surveys, quizzes), the target asset must already exist in your HoopAI account before it appears as an option. If the asset you need does not appear:
- Exit the QR code builder (or save your progress as a draft)
- Create the required asset in the relevant section of the platform
- Return to the QR code builder to complete or update the redirect
