QR codes (Quick Response codes) are two-dimensional barcodes that smartphones can scan instantly to trigger an action — opening a website, dialing a phone number, connecting to Wi-Fi, or saving a contact. The HoopAI platform includes a full-featured QR code builder that lets you create, customize, organize, and track QR codes without leaving your account.
What you can do with QR codes in HoopAI
The QR code builder is designed for businesses that run both digital and physical marketing. You can:
- Create QR codes for websites, forms, funnels, payment links, review pages, and more
- Customize the visual design with your brand colors and logo
- Track every scan with built-in analytics
- Organize codes into folders for campaigns, locations, or team projects
- Generate hundreds of codes at once using a CSV import
- Download finished codes in PNG, SVG, or PDF format for digital or print use
Static vs dynamic QR codes
The HoopAI platform creates dynamic QR codes by default. Understanding the difference helps you choose the right approach for each use case.
Static QR codes
A static QR code encodes its destination permanently at the time of creation. If you need to change the destination, you must generate a new code and reprint any physical materials that carry the old one. Static codes are appropriate when the destination will never change — for example, a fixed manufacturer website embedded on product packaging.
Dynamic QR codes
A dynamic QR code stores a short redirect URL internally. The platform resolves that short URL to the real destination at scan time. This means you can update the destination whenever you need to — without changing the printed code or regenerating the image.
Dynamic codes offer several advantages:
- Update destinations without reprinting — fix mistakes, redirect to a seasonal page, or swap campaigns after materials are already printed
- Analytics tracking — every scan is logged, including date, time, device type, and geographic region
- Flexible campaigns — run a single printed QR code through multiple campaign phases by simply updating its destination
The HoopAI platform’s QR codes are dynamic. After saving, you can edit the destination at any time from the QR code library.
QR code types
The platform supports multiple QR code types, each encoding a different kind of action:
| Type | What it does when scanned |
|---|
| Website URL | Opens any web address in the device browser |
| Call | Dials a phone number directly |
| SMS | Opens a pre-filled text message with your number and message |
| WhatsApp | Opens a WhatsApp conversation with an optional pre-filled message |
| Email | Composes a new email with a pre-set address, subject, and body |
| Form or Survey | Opens a form or survey from your HoopAI account |
| vCard | Saves your contact details to the scanner’s phone |
| Business card | Opens a mobile-friendly digital business card with contact info, hours, and social links |
| Wi-Fi | Connects the scanner’s device to a Wi-Fi network automatically |
| Plain text | Displays a text message on screen when scanned |
| Review link | Sends customers directly to your review collection page |
| Payment link | Opens a checkout page for a product or service |
| Funnel | Routes to a specific funnel page |
| Quiz | Links to an interactive quiz |
Common use cases
In-store and print marketing
Print QR codes on business cards, flyers, menus, receipts, packaging, and signage. A customer scans the code and lands on your website, fills out a lead form, leaves a review, or saves your contact information — all without typing a URL.
Review generation
Place a review QR code at your point of sale or on printed receipts. When customers scan it after their experience, they land directly on your Google review page, which removes friction and increases the number of reviews you collect.
Event marketing
Create QR codes for event registration forms, session surveys, or contact exchange. Attendees scan the code on a booth sign or badge to register, fill out a form, or save your vCard.
Digital business card
Replace printed business cards with a vCard QR code or a business card QR code. Contacts scan once and your full contact details, photo, social links, and business hours download to their phone.
Wi-Fi access
Create a Wi-Fi QR code for your lobby, waiting room, or event venue. Guests scan and connect without reading out a password.
Lead capture from physical materials
Link a QR code to a form or funnel page and print it on brochures, trade show materials, or direct mail. Leads scan and enter your marketing funnel immediately.
Campaign tracking
Use a separate QR code for each marketing channel or location so you can compare scan volumes and measure which placements drive the most engagement.
Where to find QR codes in HoopAI
Navigate to Sites in the left sidebar, then select QR Codes. If you have not yet created any codes, the QR Features landing page appears with quick-start options. Once codes exist, the library view shows all your codes with options to edit, download, move, and view analytics.
Create one QR code per campaign or distribution channel rather than reusing the same code everywhere. Separate codes let you compare performance across channels in the analytics dashboard.
